Bush Signs Law on Terror Suspects

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush on Tuesday signed legislation authorizing tough interrogation of terror suspects and smoothing the way for trials before military commissions, calling it a "vital tool" in a time of war.

This new law also authorizes the indefinite detention -- or killing -- of anyone the so-called president designates a "terrorist". And that's just for starters. But the closest Nedra Pickler, Associated Press Writer, can come to the truth of this new law is:

Bush's plan for treatment of the terror suspects became law just six weeks after he acknowledged that the CIA had been secretly interrogating suspected terrorists overseas and pressed Congress to quickly give authority to try them in military commissions.

It's quite pathetic, isn't it? There's so much in this new so-called "anti-terror" law to write about, and Nedra Pickler, Associated Press Writer, gives us this: Bush admitted six weeks ago that his so-called anti-terror program had been breaking international law and the laws of many sovereign countries and now the craven congress has supposedly made it legal?

"With the bill I'm about to sign, the men our intelligence officials believe orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people will face justice," Bush said.

No they won't. The people who orchestrated the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent people are home free now -- they get more protection from this new law than they have ever had in the past.

Among those the United States hopes to try are Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, as well as Ramzi Binalshibh, an alleged would-be 9/11 hijacker, and Abu Zubaydah, who was believed to be a link between Osama bin Laden and many al-Qaida cells.

This paragraph deserves a hearty laugh but unfortunately it is too pathetic to be funny. Anyone who has the vaguest notion of the scope and the scale of the planning that went into the 9/11 attacks could never even begin to imagine Khalid Sheikh Mohammed as the mastermind. This blog has occasionally dipped its toe in the ocean of lies that makes up the official conspiracy story. There are other -- better -- sites for those who wish to learn more. "It is a rare occasion when a president can sign a bill that he knows will save American lives," Bush said. "I have that privilege this morning."

Well I"m sure he considers it a privilege -- all the bloodthirsty tyrants of human history have relished such privileges -- but there is absolutely nothing in this bill that will save the lives of honest loyal Americans. It does, however, have the potential to save the lives of traitors and murderers, such as the man who signed it, and his vice president, and his secretary of state, and his secretary of defense, and his senior political adviser, and his senior war advisor, and his director of national intelligence, and many other insiders who are so clearly guilty of vicious crimes against America as well as vicious crimes against all humanity.

Bush signed the bill in the White House East Room, at a table with a sign positioned on the front that said "Protecting America." He said he signed it in memory of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Protecting America? Give me a break! This is the vilest protection racket ever, and the craven press is letting them get away with it, every step of the way.

In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we just for once have an open and honest investigation of the events of that day, rather than a barrage of vicious propaganda and a series of heinous, regressive, repressive laws?

In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we finally drop all the gag orders, and listen to all the witnesses, and compel all the principals to testify under oath, one at a time, and on the record?

In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we please appoint truly neutral investigators to run the investigation, rather than coverup-experts and fix-it men?

In memory of the victims of the September 11 attacks, could we at least find out who killed them before we wage endless war on the rest of the world and bomb our own legal system back to the dark ages?
